OMG! I am SO excited to feature in this month’s spotlight the ultimate Inspirista, uber-ChronicBabe & Editrix, Jenni Prokopy! I typically try to keep my blog posts short and sweet, limiting them to a few paragraphs at the most. But I need you to bear with me this month! I’m sure you’ll agree that this incredible woman is worthy of the space.
Jenni is the founder and creator of ChronicBabe.com, an online community for younger women with chronic health issues who wish to ROCK their lives. Her website is chock full of wisdom and resources to help you have an amazing life in spite of illness. She dreamed up ChronicBabe.com a few years after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia and soon after asthma, anxiety, Raynaud’s phenomenon, GERD, thyroid disease and more. Jenni turned lemons into lemonade and through her website helps other ChronicBabes gain new confidence, boost their career, nurture lifelong friendships, have great sex, save more money, and be more fabulous.
ChronicBabe.com was an unexpected find on my journey transitioning from entrepreneur to “chronicpreneur.” What Jenni has created was just what I needed, just when I needed it. It was a time when I was completely exhausted and discouraged by what I had come across while searching the internet for resources for the chronically-ill. For the most part, other websites were depressing and focused mostly on illness. Even on the community websites, members seemed to only chat about their illness, symptoms or treatment. (Not to diminish these sites in any way at all–they each offer significant value.) ChronicBabe.com was the only website I found at the time that was upbeat, fun, colorful and positive! I was also excited to discover that its community members shared not just about their illness, but also the many other exciting things they had going on in their lives.
Not only am I inspired by Jenni’s work (and boy does she work! more about that in a minute) but also by the person she is… witty, fun, funny, brilliant, creative, warm, spiritual, down-to-earth, caring, compassionate, thoughtful, dedicated, generous. All of this comes across and I’ve never even met her in person!
Just when you know Jenni has her hands full managing the awesome ChronicBabe website, including religiously posting a weekly video on her blog (check out some of my favorite vlog posts here and here), you’ll find out that ChronicBabe.com is a labor of love and that she still has to work for a living! She runs her own business as a freelance health writer, editor, motivational speaker, social media and communications consultant, coach and trainer to health care providers and facilitator/host of ChronicBabe’s Secret Club! In her “spare” time, Jenni is busy out there serving her community and winning awards. Look out for her most recent project, the book ChronicBabe 101, which is in the works and scheduled to be released soon!
I could go on and on about how Jenni and her work have inspired me, but to be more practical I’ve put together a Top 10 list:

1. Taught me to embrace being a ChronicBabe
2. Inspired me to be myself, illness and all
3. Showed me that I will have moments when I feel down…and that’s okay
4. Inspired me to not take myself so seriously
5. Keeps me inspired to WORK, girl! Work hard! (Her work ethic is a constant reminder that there is still more “work” to be done and I’ve got to do it!)
6. Her life is a testimony that I still have much to offer the world in spite of my illness
7. Inspires me to be passionate!
